Barbara Lemke Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, 2907 Mulberry Ave. Visitation: 10 a.m. until service time Saturday, funeral home. Barbara Ann Lemke, 62, Muscatine, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at her home. Tom Marten will officiate. After the services, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Community Room at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at the funeral home. Mrs. Lemke was born April 22, 1944, in Lomira Township, Wis., the daughter of Herman and Berniece Bloedow Marten. She married Leroy "Pete" Lemke on April 23, 1966, in Juneau, Wis. She gave most of her adult life to assisting others. In Ripon, Wis., she helped children with special needs. After moving to Warroad, Minn., she worked at the local care center. She later moved to Eldora, where she was the church secretary for St. Paul Lutheran Church. After moving to Muscatine, she returned to helping the elderly in care centers. gave to herself was spent improving her dream house and yard that she had in Muscatine. She also liked to travel throughout the United States. She, of course, also found time to be with and enjoy her three grand-daughters. Survivors include her husband; a son, Andrew Lemke and wife Barbara of Sussex, Wis.; a daughter, Brenda Alvarez and husband Tony of Milwaukee, Wis.; her mother, Berniece Marten of Muscatine; three granddaughters, Anna and Abbey Lemke and Belicia Alvarez; and three brothers, Harv Marten and wife Sue of Pueblo, Colo., Tom Marten and wife Kathy of Rockford, Mich. and Bob Marten of Madison, Wis. She was preceded in death by her father.
