ear. After her husband's return from the Vietnam conflict, both served as co-presidents of the Pearce Junior High School PTA. Peg also served several years on the Sacred Heart Catholic School Board. In 1973, Peg's husband was assigned to Kadena AB in Okinawa, Japan. Peg was elected president of the Kadena Air Base Officers' Wives Club and oversaw not only club business but also several leprosariums that were a special project of the club and a gift shop that generated a million dollars a year in income. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force in 1976, the Welshes settled in Austin. In 1982, Peg was elected president of the Onion Creek Ladies' Association. She served 10 years as volunteer Catholic Christian Doctrine (CCD) director of St. Peter the Apostle Church. Peg was also an H&R Block tax office supervisor for 15 years. Peg was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Col. Mark A. Welsh, Jr., USAF (ret.); her beloved daughter Monica Marie; brother and sister-in-law James and Marilyn Duane, Belfast, Maine and sister and brother-in-law Mary Pat and John Dwyer, Phoenix, Arizona; She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law General Mark and Betty Welsh, USAF, College Station, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Mary Nan and Greg Leinweber, San Antonio, Texas; daughter Molly Anderson, Georgetown, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Maureen and Vince Farelli, Austin, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Margaret Elisa (Puff) and Buddy Rogers, Princeton, Indiana; son and daughter-in-law Jim and Dr. Jenifer Welsh, Coppell, Texas; six grandsons, five granddaughters, nine great grandsons and eleven great granddaughters. She was a superior, gracious, humble, loving, world-class lady, wife and mom. She will be greatly missed. A rosary and funeral Mass will be held at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, 1100 Main Street, Buda, Texas, on Monday, June 7. The rosary will begin at 10:00 AM. Mass will begin at 11:00 AM followed by burial in Live Oak Cemetery, Father Jared Cooke officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Col.
