Joseph 'Joe' Friis Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, Bethany Lutheran Church, West Branch. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. today, Henderson-Barker Funeral Home, West Branch. WEST BRANCH, Iowa -- Joseph "Joe" Friis, 33, West Branch, died of cancer Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at his home. The Rev. Marty Jacobson will officiate. Burial will be at the West Branch Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Mr. Friis was born Aug. 8, 1973, in Iowa City, the son of Herbert and Karen Forrest Friis. He graduated from West Branch High School in 1992. He farmed in a partnership with his father in the West Branch area. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, the Pork Producers, the Doniphan Center and was an honorary member of the West Branch Fire Department. He had a deep love of farming. He was friendly and outgoing and everyone knew him by his smile. He had a big heart and was the type of person who would put everyone else before himself.
