Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree with a Rosary at 7 p.m. IOWA CITY -- Gertrude A. Anderson, 85, of Iowa City, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at the Kahl Home in Davenport. Carol Kaalberg, Parish Life Coordinator, will officiate. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Casket bearers will be the grandchildren. Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Liberty Library for children's literature. Sympathy notes may be left for the Anderson family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Mrs. Anderson was born May 9, 1921, in West Liberty, the daughter of Bernard H. and Louise R. (Meyers) Nortman. She married Glenn E. Anderson on Jan. 21, 1943, in West Liberty. h's Catholic Church of West Liberty and belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society. After moving to Iowa City, she became a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She loved reading, her grandchildren, baking and collecting cookbooks. Survivors include her husband, Glenn, of Iowa City; one son, Glen E. Anderson and wife Susan, of Bettendorf; four daughters, Mary "Mandi" Anderson of Ames, Carole Swift and husband Richard of Bettendorf, Patricia Hartley and husband Richard of Carroll, and Tess Magill and husband Kent of Kansas City, Mo.; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Charlotte Siders and husband Kenneth of Cedar Rapids and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Cate Spears; one brother, Charles Nortman; four sisters, Mary Boyd, Regina Ellsworth, Louise Jehle and Loretta Brown.
