ELIZA, Ill. -- Euleda "Elvira" Gomez, 76, of Eliza, died Friday Feb. 2, 2007, in Muscatine. Burial is in the Eliza Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Gomez was born Sept. 14, 1930, in Sherman, Texas, the daughter of David and Alline Campbell Honeycutt. She married Estaban "Steve" Gomez July 26, 1947, in Ysleta, Texas. He died Oct. 27, 2004. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, her cats and birds and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Terry Carman of Muscatine, Rose Davis and her fiance, Steve Malone, of Illinois City, Ill. and Elizabeth and Terry Hocke of Wapello; five sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Twyla Gomez of Cozad, Neb., Pete and Teri Gomez of New Boston, Dave and Gail Gomez of Reynolds, Joe and Rita Gomez of Missouri and John Gomez and special friend, Connie Garcia, of Wapello; 24 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.
