MUSCATINE, Iowa - Thomas A. Korthaus, 62, Muscatine, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Casket bearers are Mark Reimers, Randy Munson, Paul Ales, Ben Reimers and Brad Morgan. Honorary casket bearers are Matt Reimers, Dave Moore, Delbert Ketelsen and Ralph Pace Jr. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by the combined units of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1565 and American Legion Post 27. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Mr. Korthaus was born March 12, 1944, in Durant, the son of Clarence H. and Norma C. (Bangert) Korthaus. He married Tamara Jo Moorhead on Aug. 28, 1965, in Davenport. He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed football, the Vikings, NASCAR, yard work and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandson. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tony A. Korthaus and wife Amy of Eden Prairie, Minn. and Todd A. Korthaus and wife Tara of Muscatine; a grandchild, Riley Korthaus; a brother, Kenneth Korthaus and wife Betty of Durant; and three sisters, Marilyn Heinrich of Wilton, Emogene Sorgenfrey of Durant and Joyce Foy and husband John of Durant. He was preceded in death by his parents.
