Alberta Petersen Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, Henderson-Barker Funeral Home, West Branch. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. today, funeral home. WEST BRANCH, Iowa - Alberta Petersen, 95, West Branch, died Saturday, March 10, 2007, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, after a brief illness. Burial will be at the West Branch Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Mrs. Petersen was born May 8, 1911, on a farm in Cedar County five miles northeast of West Branch, the daughter of Monroe Adams and Mae Albin Hemingway. She married Sigurd Jensen on Nov. 3, 1934, in Lone Rock. He preceded her in death in July 1947. She married Victor Petersen on June 13, 1951. He preceded her in death in August 1992. She attended school in West Branch and Springdale, graduating from West Liberty in 1929. She taught school in the West Branch and Ely area for 44 years. She and husband Sigurd farmed near Downey until his death. She and husband Victor lived on a farm north of West Branch. In 1972 they retired and built a home at Fox Run, West Branch. '' Jensen and wife Shirley and Marilyn Cook, all of West Branch, Elaine Siddell of Iowa City and Bonita Kruse and husband Harvey of Allison; a sister-in-law, Minnie Worrell of Solon; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Meek, Cordelle Brown, Ada and Alice Hemingway; her parents; and two husbands.
