Donald Grunder Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, Zion Lutheran Church, Wilton. Visitations: 4-8 p.m. today, Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton; and one hour prior to services Tuesday, church. WILTON, Iowa - Donald C. Grunder, 78, Wilton, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. The Rev. Terry Small will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist James Batchelor and vocalist Cyndi Hammes. Casket bearers are Jacob Hoekstra, Brandon Grunder, Alex Grunder, Matt Baker and Lance Bolton. Honorary casket bearers are Kate Bolton, Allison Maurer, Jennifer Riggs, Angie Hoekstra, Cassie Baker, Cami Grabeel and Falloyn Grunder. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church. Mr. Grunder was born Feb. 5, 1929, in Cedar County, the son of Herman C. and Daisy Mae (Duncan) Grunder. He married Rhoda E. Nehas on Dec. 17, 1949, in Kahoka, Mo. He graduated from Wilton High School in 1947. He farmed in Cedar County and drove school bus for the Wilton Community Schools for 31 years. nty Farm Bureau. He was an avid collector and especially enjoyed collecting Oliver tractors. He refurbished furniture and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. He was a sports fan and loved to watch his grandchildren participate in them. Above all, he loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Connie Hoekstra and husband Mike of Wilton, Pat Todorich and husband Tony of Maquoketa and Cathy Riggs and husband Mark of Durant; three sons, Pete Grunder and wife Theresa and Jeff Grunder and wife Karen, all of Wilton, and Dale and wife Jeanne Howe of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia Koll and husband Dick of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents.
