RAYMOND WICHERS MUSCATINE, Iowa - Raymond W. Wichers, 85, of Muscatine, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Muscatine. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. A military service will be conducted by the combined squads of the American Legion Post 27 and VFW #1565. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church or the Muscatine Quarterback Club. Online condolences for the Wichers family may be left at www.wittichfuneralhome.com. Raymond was born on April 17, 1921, in Muscatine, the son of August and Helena Drewes Wichers. He married Rosalyn Olson on August 5, 1949, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death in 1996. Raymond was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army in the European Theater. He is survived by one son, Joel Wichers and wife, Becky, of Muscatine; three grandchildren, Drake Wichers, Drew Wichers and Luke Wichers; and one sister, Esther Schuld of Chicago, Illinois, and a special friend Irmgard Shoppa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers and four sisters.
