Charles 'Charlie' Stender Services: 10 a.m. Friday, April 20, Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, 2907 Mulberry Ave., Muscatine. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 19, funeral home. FRUITLAND, Iowa -- Charles "Charlie" H. Stender, 59, Fruitland, died Monday, April 16, 2007. The Rev. Roger Hubbard will officiate. Casket bearers are Homer Chambers, Luke Chambers, Orlen Stark, Jim Killen, John Ramirez and Tom Peterson. Honorary casket bearers are Amanda Chambers-Person, Michaela Gillette, Michael Gillette, Lauren Gillette, Erica Gillette, Ron Frieden and Doyle Borchert. Burial will be at the Rock Island Arsenal with military rites by the combined units of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1565 and American Legion Post 27. After the services, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Community Room at the funeral home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home. Mr. Stender was born Aug. 1, 1947, in Muscatine, the son of Nevin L. and Bibiane (Geens) Stender. He married Sharol L. Reed on Feb. 3, 1978, in Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents.
