COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa -- Harold L. Schrier, 73, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, died Thursday, May 3, 2007, at the Washington County Hospital. A memorial was established at Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, Columbus Junction, in his name. The Revs. Ron and Catherine Whitlatch will officiate the service. Casketbearers will be Tom Wasson, John Currie, Rich Riggan, Bill Garrett and Ephraim Gabriel. Honorary Casketbearers will be Deloyd Swarts and Bill Martin. Military Rites by the Allen Wright Hanft American Legion Post 100 will be held at the funeral home immediately following the services, and a time of food and fellowship will then be held at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in the Columbus City Cemetery at a later date. Harold Lee Schrier was born March 24, 1934 in Bellwood, Neb., the son of Jesse A. and Clara (Brase) Schrier. ny. He was a member of the V.F.W. AFGE Local 2773. He was a very active person. He enjoyed woodworking and the outdoors. He liked to golf, bowl, camp and travel, and especially he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was employed at Rath packing Co. and later retired as the Consumer Safety Inspector for the USDA. He will be dearly missed by his wife Margareta "Greta" of Columbus Junction; children Renate Skubal and husband Randy of Columbus Junction, James Schrier and wife Tammy of Washington, Iowa, and David Schrier and wife Tessa of Muscatine; and grandchildren Briana and Amanda Skubal, Colton, Cami, Christian, Hailey and Gracie Schrier and Stevie Schrier; and step-grandchildren Jessica and Ashley Timmins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Lloyd Schrier.
