RANDY HESSEL MUSCATINE, Iowa #45;- Randy R. Hessel, 60, of Muscatine, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at his home after a courageous battle against cancer. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2007, at the Grace Lutheran Church, 2107 Cedar Street. Reverend John Meyer will officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2007, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church, Genesis Hospice, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, or the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. Randy was born on July 4, 1946, in Dubuque, the son of Ralph and Inelda Armbruster Hessel. He was united in marriage to Karen Marshall on May 27, 1967, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He received his bachelor's degree from Central Missouri State and received his master's degree from Goddard College in Vermont. Randy retired from the Muscatine Community School System as a counselor at Central Middle School. he Grace Lutheran Church. He was very dedicated to and loved his family very much. He also loved hunting, fishing, golfing and running. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Randy is survived by his wife, Karen Hessel of Muscatine; one son, Chad Hessel and wife, Amy, of Davenport; one daughter, Kimberly Pantier and husband, Brian, of Muscatine; three grandchildren, Alex and Jackson Hessel and Benen Pantier; one sister, Mary Jo Licht and husband, Terry, of Dubuque; one niece, Courtney Smith, two nephews, Eli Licht and Jud Licht; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Orville and Armitta Marshall of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dale Hessel.
