Betty Mead Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, New Boston United Methodist Church. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, church. NEW BOSTON, Ill. -- Betty Zane Mead, 70, of New Boston, died Saturday, June 23, 2007, at her home. The Revs. Richard Bishop and Richard Osborn II will officiate. The organist is Lavota Armstrong and the vocalist is Lora Wright. Pallbearers are Mike Miller, Brian Engle, Joe Osborn, Rex Osborn, Richard Osborn III and Chuck Coulter. Burial is in the New Boston Cemetery. Dennison Funeral Home in Aledo is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family. Mrs. Mead was born Sept. 5, 1936, in rural New Boston, the daughter of Sal and Mable (Jebb) Leith. She married Leo Mead in 1956, in New Boston. She was a homemaker and also a custodian for the Westmer School District, retiring in the early 70s. She enjoyed sports, was a Cubs fan, played softball and liked to do crossword puzzles.
