Bertha Reed Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello. Visitation: 6-8 p.m., today, July 2, funeral home. MUS-CATINE, Iowa -- Bertha Verlee Reed, 88 years 7 months 22 days, of Muscatine, died Saturday, June 30, 2007, at Unity Hospital in Muscatine. The Rev. John Brown of Fruitland Baptist Church will officiate services. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery. Mrs. Reed was born Nov. 8, 1918, in Grandview, the daughter of George and Bertha (Browning) Ashby. She married Arnold Reed on Aug. 17, 1939, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death in 1997. She graduated from Grandview High School in 1937 as the valedictorian of her class. She was a member of the Fruitland Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and spending time with her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her children and grandchildren. She is survived by two sons Clarence (Lena) Reed of Muscatine and Robert (Vicky) Reed of Lawrence, Kan.; three daughters Georgia VanAuken of Des Moines, Nancy (Clifford) Dodd of Davenport and Debbie (James) Storm of Muscatine; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and fo...[more]
