John L. 'Jack' Toussaint Memorial service: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, St. Paul's United Methodist Church. The family will greet relatives and friends in the church parlors following the service. CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- John L. "Jack" Toussaint, 82, 1300 13th St. NW, died Friday, July 20, 2007, at Methwick Woodlands following a long illness. The Rev. Harlen Gillespie and the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the Methwick Community, or to a charity of choice. Mr. Toussaint was born in Allerton, Iowa, on Nov. 25, 1924, and grew up in Muscatine, where he graduated from Muscatine High School. He married Betty Eppel on Nov. 24, 1944, and Diane Smith on March 17, 1978. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946. In 1949, he received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, University of Iowa. In 1954, he received a Master in Hospital Administration, University of Iowa. He served in Hospital Administration at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from 1953-1962 and at St. Luke's Methodist Hospital in Cedar Rapids from 1963-1988. He served on various community service organizations and enjoyed fishing, reading, travel and especially his family.
