Linus H. Smoot, 89, of Allison, Iowa, passed away September 21, 2010, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. He was born August 24, 1921, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, to Peter and Sophia (Cassmann) Smoot. Linus attended country schools in Minnesota and Iowa. He married Margaret Lursen on November 28, 1942 in Bethany, Missouri. Linus was a farmer, passed employee of Allison Bristow Schools, drove tank truck for Harms Oil and was a courier for Lincoln Savings Bank. Linus was baptized July 10, 1949, in the Trinity Reformed Church in Allison and also was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Allison. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Linus and Margaret enjoyed attending all of the grandchildren's activities, he enjoyed listening to Polka and Old Time Country Music and was an avid bird watcher. Abigail, Emy and Jordan. Also survived by one sister Eleanor Bruns of Dumont. Linus was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Viola, two brothers Herbert & George and a son-in-law Dennis Rewerts.
Burial will be in the Allison Cemetery.
