Kenneth Dahnke Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, Muscatine. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, funeral home. MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Kenneth L. Dahnke, 70, of Muscatine, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, after a courageous battle with diabetes. Casketbearers will be nephews, Neal Adams, David Hargrave, Mark Hargrave, Mike Hargrave, Greg Hargrave, Jeff Hargrave, Scott Wagner, Mike Dahnke and Jeff Dahnke. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Following the services, there will be a time of food and fellowship at the American Legion Hall. A memorial has been established at the funeral home. Mr. Dahnke was born April 14, 1937, in Iowa City, the son of George F. and Beulah (Henderson) Dahnke. He married E. Grace Hargrave Jan. 31, 1958, in Muscatine. He was employed at Central Soya for 15 years and later worked at the HON Oak Steel plant for 26 years in the top department, retiring in 1997. He will be deeply missed by his wife; two daughters, Vicki Plett and Cindi Ruckles and her companion, Bob Gray, of Muscatine; a son, Steve Dahnke and his wife, Kim, of Muscatine; five grandchildren, Kindra Plett and boyfriend, Stacy Robert Bradshaw, of Polo, Ill., Tyler Ruckles, Treavor Ruckles, Ben Dahnke and Jacob Dahnke, all of Muscatine; two brothers, Jack Dahnke and his wife, Sue, of Muscatine and Dewayne "Doc" Dahnke of Iowa City; five sisters, Betty Bartholomew of Coralville, Virginia Poggenpohl of Iowa City, Diane Littrel and her husband, John, of Muscatine, Deloris Curtis and her husband, Gene, of Muscatine and Ramona McCleary and her husband, Richard, of Rock Island; a sister-in-law, Jo Ann Dahnke of Muscatine; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Robert, William, Dale and Lyle Dahnke.
