LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Sister Ottona Meierotto, Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration, 95, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at Villa St. Joseph. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in La Crosse. Memorials may be sent to Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, 912 Market St., La Crosse, Wis., 54601-8800. Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Sister Ottona was born July 22, 1912, in St. Paul, Iowa, to Otto and Anna (Vantiger) Meierotto. She entered St. Rose Convent in 1930, and made profession of vows in 1933. Ministering in the field of education, she served 58 years as a teacher in elementary schools in Iowa and Wisconsin, including 21 years in Muscatine. She retired to St. Rose Convent in 1991 and to the Villa in 2003. She is survived by her Franciscan community; two sisters, Rita Mehmert and Mary Agnes Dingman, both of West Point, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Betty Wilkens of Nauvoo, Ill.; and several nieces a...[more]
