Lysle Steahr Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, American Legion, 110 S. Houser St., Muscatine. MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Lysle J. Steahr, 72, of Muscatine, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at Unity Hospital. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Columbarium. The Nichols Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be left to the Iowa City Hospice or the Lysle J. Steahr Memorial Fund. Mr. Steahr was born Jan. 28, 1935, in Muscatine, the son of Ralph Walden and Clythia Kinsley Steahr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Airborne Division. He married Patricia A. Shoppa May 1, 1955, in Iowa City. He retired from the Millwright Union 2158 and was most recently a driver for Tantara Transportation Corp. He enjoyed fishing and going to Osage Beach, Mo. with friends, as he had done for the past 48 years. He will be deeply missed by his family, including his wife; sons, Lysle "John" Jr. and his wife, Tanya, of Herron, S.D., Bruce and his wife, Debbie, Craig and his wife, Denise, and Bob, all of Muscatine and Brian of Letts; a daughter, Sallie Thorpe and her husband, Berry, of Muscatine; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildre...[more]
