On October 25, 1995, God blessed the world with Austin Courtney. He was 8 pounds 11 ounces of amazing; born with a big heart and a wonderful soul. From the start, he had an awesome personality, complete with a clever, beautiful grin that could quickly turn anyone to his cause. With a passion for music (all kinds), sports (Kobe Bryant) and Chess Tournaments with family, Austin was able to bring his love of life to anything he set his mind to do. He also loved wrestling in the yard with his brothers and his Dad as well as shooting baskets in the park. He had the best hugs and was a true friend to everyone he met. Austin made his family and friends' lives better and brighter because of his presence. But that bright light burnt out sooner than any of us had planned and on December 10, 2020, Austin was called home to heaven. is maternal grandfather Frank Kohel; step-grandmother Lucille Wisinski, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins, and his beloved beagle Pumba. Austin was welcomed to Heaven by his grandparents Lana Kohel and Dale Whitey Courtney, step-grandparents Benjamin Legendre Sr., Nell Talbot Legendre and Chester Sonny Wisinski, and his half-sister Sarah Sunny Courtney. Visitation will be at St. Gerald's Catholic Church in Omaha on Wednesday, December 16th, from 5 - 7PM with a rosary at 7PM. Funeral will be Thursday, December 17th at 10AM at St. Geralds. Burial will be Friday, December 18th, at 10 AM at St Johns Cemetery in Bellevue, NE. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Band of the Strong.
