Walter Lucas Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, Muscatine. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at the funeral home. MUSCATINE, Iowa - Walter Wallace Lucas, 82, of Muscatine, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at Unity Hospital. The Rev. Mary Howell will officiate. Casketbearers will be Herbert Britcher, Mike Hyink, Bill Smith, Edward Smith, Nahum Heath and Bob Onken. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, with full military rites provided by the combined units of the VFW Post 1565 and the American Legion Post 27. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be at New Hope United Methodist Church. Memorials may be directed to New Hope United Methodist Church. Mr. Lucas was born Sept. 26, 1925, in Muscatine, the son of Clyde W. and Louise (Oliver) Lucas. He married Edith L. Skipton on July 16, 1948, in Muscatine. He was a lifelong resident of the Muscatine area and was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. y Truman. He enjoyed his family and dedicated his time to his grandchildren and outdoor activities at his Cedar River cottage. He also enjoyed camping, spending winters in Texas with friends and traveling through the mountains of Colorado. He was employed at Alcoa for 17 years and later at Heinz for 19 years as a supervisor in quality control. He will be deeply missed by his wife; a son, Kevin W. Lucas of Muscatine; a daughter, Teresa L. Smith and her husband, Charles, of Muscatine; two grandchildren, Timothy L. Smith and Whitney S. Smith, both of Muscatine; a great-granddaughter, Mercedes Smith; and four sisters, Mary L. Summitt of Loveland Colo., Doris I. Onken and her husband, Gene, of New Boston and Esther L. Hessel and her husband, Bud, and Sandra M. Warner, all of Thornton, Colo.. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Leslie C. Lucas and Steven W. Lucas; two brothers, Clyde W. Lucas and Cecil J. Lucas; and three sisters, Laura Brossart, Osceola B. McKay and Beulah J. Bird.
