Ralph McAllister Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. today, Jan. 11, at the funeral home. MUSCATINE, Iowa - Ralph E. McAllister, 91, of Muscatine, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at the Charter House Hospice in Rochester, Minn. The Rev. David Ivie of First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Casketbearers will be his grandchildren, Sarah Bradley, David Bradley, Eric McAllister, Kelly McAllister, Justin McAllister, Lora McAllister, Brett McAllister and Tyler McAllister. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military rites. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room. Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church or Lutheran Homes. Mr. McAllister was born April 30, 1916, in Winfield, the son of William A. and Louise (Moehle) McAllister. He attended Iowa State University before joining the U.S. Navy. He served his country during WWII as a naval aviator and flight instructor from 1939-46. 2001. He worked as a dairy farmer, retiring in 1979. During his life, he served as a 4-H leader, Farm Bureau county president, S/M Service Co. president, F.S. and Gromark regional director, Swiss Valley Farm director and was on the Durant School Board. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Moose Lodge, the Walcott American Legion and the Muscatine County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed talking about his farming, reading and Iowa Hawkeye football. He will be deeply missed by four children, Vernon McAllister and wife, Diane, of Muscatine, Mary Bradley and husband, Mark, of Rochester, Minn., Gary McAllister and wife, Anita, of Jacksonville, Mo., and Dennis McAllister and wife, Virginia, of Prole, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Leonard McAllister and wife, Carmen, of Mount Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four brothers and two sisters.
