Ruth Ford Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. today, Jan. 22, at the funeral home. ALEDO, Ill. - Ruth E. Ford, 90, of Aledo, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at the Mercer County Nursing Home in Aledo. Burial is at the Aledo Cemetery, with military rites conducted. Memorials may be left to the American Legion Fallerans Post 121 or the Parkinson's Disease Foundation. Mrs. Ford was born Sept. 23, 1917, in Fulton County, Ohio, the daughter of Walter J. and Eva Newcomer Leininger. She graduated from Wauseon High School and attended Tobe-Coburn School for Fashion Careers in New York City. She married Charles G. Ford on Nov. 26, 1949, in Wauseon, Ohio. He died June 8, 1999. She was a U.S. veteran of WWII, serving in the WAVES. Prior to her marriage, she was employed at Marshall Field and Company in Chicago. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the operation of the Ford Optometric Practice in Aledo. She is survived by two daughters, Viktoria Ford of Champaign, Ill., and Lisa (Michael) Hershenson of Evanston, Ill.; two sons, Charles C. Ford of Davenport and Erik (Margaret) Ford of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister.
