Maxine Heck, 97, of Aledo, died Friday March 7, 2008, at the Aledo Health and Rehab Center. Memorials may be left to the Aledo Health and Rehab Center or to the Mercer County VFW Post No. 1571. She was born Aug. 27, 1910, southwest of Aledo, the daughter of Fred and Ethel Young Greer. She received her education from Fox River Academy in Sheridan, Ill. and was united in marriage to Donnie Heck June 13, 1929, in Davenport. He died July 28, 1998. She was a homemaker and a former member of the Joy Band. She is survived by three daughters, Donna Beede of Pleasant Grove, Utah; Ethel Carlson of Galesburg, Ill.; Janet Rader and husband, Edward of Sun Prairie, Wisc.; a son, Harold Spike Heck and wife, Nancy of Aledo; 19 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Marvin Kenny Heck,; a daughter and son-in-law; Fay and Elvin Gustafson and a sister, Bernice Wood. [more]
