pril 9, 1946, in Pleasant Plain, Iowa. Ray was a Navy veteran of WWII, serving from 1943-1946 in the Pacific Theatre and serving onboard the LST 739 Troup Carrier. He was a farmer and operated heavy equipment as owner of Schultz Construction, specializing in soil conservation and the construction of ponds and terraces. He was a member of the Crawfordsville American Legion and of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Columbus Junction. Ray was a two-term mayor of Crawfordsville, Iowa and a member of the Crawfordsville City Council for a total of 16 years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, woodworking, fishing, hunting, camping and reading. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Wanda Schultz of Crawfordsville; his children, Ed Schultz and wife, Joyce, of Muscatine, Darrell Schultz and wife, Faye, of Mount. Pleasant, Teresa Sommer and husband, Roger, of Winfield, and Kathy Richardson and husband, Stan, of Washington; his brother, George Schultz and wife, Shirley, of Fairfield; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jesse Schultz, and two sisters, Virginia Kurtz and Rita Sojka.
