ROBERT SHOEMAKER MUSCATINE, Iowa - Robert E. Shoemaker, 85, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Carrington Place. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Betsy Lee of Trinity Episcopal Church will officiate the service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2008, at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. In lieu of memorials, the family requests that flowers be sent. Bob was born on August 14, 1922, in Muscatine, the son of Raymond L. and Vera M. Kranz Shoemaker. He married Dorothy Darlene Middleton on July 27, 1946, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2001. He was a veteran of World War II, serving stateside from 1942 to 1946. He owned and operated Kranz Florist for 32 years. He was a life member of the Society of Iowa Florists, Elks Lodge No. 304, Muscatine Moose Lodge No. 388, American Legion Post 27, and was very active in the Iowa Lodge No. 2 AF amp; AM; Davenport Consistory, Kaaba Temple Shrine, and served with the Provost Guard. urvivors include one son, Roger B. Shoemaker and wife, Marge, of Muscatine; two daughters, Sherry L. Bogan of Muscatine, and Pamela M. Jacobs and husband, Jim, of Muscatine; two grandsons, Seth Shoemaker of Muscatine and Chad Shoemaker of Iowa City; and one brother-in-law, Robert Middleton of Winchester, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one son-in-law, Al Bogan.
