Terry Townsley LETTS, Iowa - George Terry Townsley, 67, of Letts, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. The Rev. Mike Townsley of Walford will officiate. Caskekbearers will be Kyle Nelson, Bart Hepker, Rob Reynolds, Bill Brown, Brad Phillips and Myron Haury. Honorary casketbearers will be Charlie Snyder, Kenny Conaway, John Hoopes, George Schmidt, Bert Briggs, George Taylor, James Coder and Jerry Diller. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery of rural Cranston. Following the interment a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Muscatine American Legion, Post No. 27. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Terry's name for the Letts Fire Department, the Conesville Fire Department, the Louisa County Amublance Service and the Clover Ridge United Methodist Church of Walford, Iowa. . He married Sandra Griffith on March 29, 1958. He graduated from Letts High School in 1958. For 24 years they were growers for the Heinz Co. In 1969 they started Lazy T Produce. They spent several winters fishing for crappie and spending time with their friends in Fla. He was a member of the Letts Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge of Columbus City, the Lions Club of Grandview, and the Moose Lodge of Muscatine. He was also a former manager of the Thirsty Camel Restaurant of Conesville. He enjoyed playing softball, trapshooting, shooting pool, bowling, and woodworking. His favorite pastimes were checking the fields and spending time with the grandchildren on the farm. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Sandra Townsley of Letts; his children, Kim Nelson and husband, Todd, of Decatur, Illinois, Jill Reynolds and husband, Harley, of Muscatine, and George Townsley of Davenport; six grandchildren, Kyle Nelson, Bart Hepker, Molly Hepker, Madalyn Reynolds, Rob Reynolds and Tyler Townsley; two brothers, Noel Townsley and wife, Emily, of Letts and Craig Townsley and wife, Cheryl, of Letts; and a sister, Suzanne Bolton and husband, Chris, of Seely Lake, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew.
