ROBERT NEWCOMB NEW LONDON, Iowa - Robert L. Newcomb Sr., 76, of New London and formerly of Muscatine, died Tuesday, June 17 at Henry County Health Center, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2008, at Elliott Chapel, New London. Rev. Steve Prickett will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the Henry County honor guard. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2008, with the family will greet friends for one half hour prior to service. Mr. Newcomb was born September 9, 1931, in Muscatine, the son of Henry and Cleda Ellis Newcomb and attended schools in Muscatine. He married Dorothy Bonnie Shanner. She died in 2001. He was a truck driver for S.J. Hoffman in Muscatine for many years. He was also a commercial fisherman. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was of the Christian faith. He loved fishing and western movies.
