Raymond L. Farley DAVENPORT, Iowa - Raymond L. Farley, 75, of Davenport, formerly of Buffalo, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, following an extended illness. Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Runge Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Buffalo. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church in Buffalo or Genesis East Dialysis Unit in Davenport. Mr. Farley was born January 18, 1933, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Charles and Verla Cherry Farley. He married Marilyn Duncan on November 23, 1953, in Iowa City. From 1951-54 he served as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy and the Marine Corps. He barbered from 1956-98, first in Davenport at Vernie's and later at his own shop, Ray's Barber Shop, in Buffalo. He retired in 1998. He served as a councilman in Buffalo from 1977-79 and as mayor from 1979-83. considerate to everyone he met. He loved to fish, hunt, garden, and camp, especially traveling to Texas for the winter months. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He will be missed by all. Special thanks to Drs. Dyer and Al Sheikha, nurses at Genesis East Dialysis Unit, and Select Specialty Hospital ICU for their kind and outstanding care. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Farley; his children and their spouses, Gwen and James Schebler of Ackworth, Kent and Angi Farley of Cedar Falls, and Todd and Susan Farley of Golden Valley, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren, Ashley and husband, Kyle, Amber, Alicia, and Anna, Jensen, Carter, and Samantha, Joshua, Matthew and Emily; three great-grandchildren, Abigail, Madison, and Dublin; family member, Kathy Farley; sisters, Mildred Taylor and husband, Vern, of LeClaire, Dorothy King of St. Charles, Missouri, Susan Hein and husband, Dan, of Davenport; brothers, Charles Farley and wife, Betty, of Port Isabel, Texas, Fred Farley and wife, Carole, of Blue Grass, and Richard Farley; sister in law, Lillian Schnoor; and brothers in law, Arthur Duncan and Lyle Duncan, all of Blue Grass; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents;l sister, Sandra Atkinson and brothers, Jerry and Mark.
