Donald J. Mills MUSCATINE, Iowa - Donald J. Mills, 77, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at his home. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Casketbearers will be Fred Hurlbut, Keith Sutter, Charles Hogan, Mike Berlin, Gary Wagner and Tim Steckman. Honorary casketbearers will be Donald's grandchildren, Amber Clemens, Amanda Clemens, Ashley Clemens, Rebecca Mills and Matthew Mills. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park with full military rites by the combined units of V.F. W Post 1565 and the American Legion Post No. 27. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Plamor Lanes Bowling Alley. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2008, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Donald Mills Memorial Fund. Donald was born on December 25, 1930, in Lone Tree, the son of Arley and Jessie Crawford Mills. Army Reserves for six years. He worked at International Harvester in Rock Island for 35 years and then for Central State Bank for 20 years. He was a past member of the Moose of Muscatine. He was the secretary for the bowling board for 28 ½ years and secretary of bowling leagues for 50 years. He coached Little League baseball for eight years and youth bowling for 35 years. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family, especially his children and grandchildren's sporting events. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, a great father and grandfather, brother and friend who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Mills of Muscatine; his children, Bruce Mills of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Connie Clemens and husband, Mike, of Muscatine; five grandchildren, Amber Clemens, Amanda Clemens, Ashley Clemens, Rebecca Mills and Matthew Mills; and his sister, Betty Doty of Forest Park, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Richard; a brother-in-law, Robert Doty; and two nephews, Dennis and Jim Mills.
