Maxine Boysen MEDIAPOLIS, Iowa - Maxine Boysen, 87, of Mediapolis, died Saturday, September 13, 2008, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at the First United Presbyterian Church, Mediapolis. Rev. Brad Hansen will officiate. According to her wishes, she has been cremated. Burial will be at the Cambrian Cemetery rural Columbus Junction. A lunch will follow at the church. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, Mediapolis, family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the First United Presbyterian Church and the Mediapolis Volunteer Fire Department. Maxine was born August 23, 1921, the daughter of Paul and Jennie Lewis Kerr, in Columbus Junction. She was a 1939 graduate of the Columbus Junction High School. She married Edlef Boysen of Morning Sun on March 3, 1940, in Kahoka, Missouri. They have resided in Mediapolis area since 1945. She loved to play the piano. She learned to play by note at age 10. has been playing for Old Threshers in Mount Pleasant over the past 38 years. Her ability to play impromptu allowed her to sit down at a piano anywhere, anytime and start playing. Memorable occasions were at a restaurant in North Dakota, a hotel in Mexico, and a gasthaus in Germany. She is survived by her husband, Edlef Boysen of Mediapolis; three daughters, Janet Bozman of Moline, Illinois, Joyce Fischer of Morning Sun and Diana Powers of Mediapolis; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Finke of Columbus Junction. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
