Funeral Home: Hansen Mortuaries
The world lost a bright and loving light Wednesday, August 18, 2021, when John Patrick McSherry took his leave of this earth to enter the gates of heaven. As the youngest child of three born during the Great Depression, he desired during his youth to be a priest. businesses. John loved serving as a Eucharistic Minister in the Catholic Church and enjoyed participating in his parish Men's Bible Study Group. A die-hard NY Mets and NY Giants fan, he was always tickled when people would ask him if he was related to the national league umpire with the same name. With a wry Irish wit that garnered him the title "Mr. Funny Pants," he delighted and inspired his family and everyone he met with his joyful zest for life, positive attitude and playful nature. John is survived by his sister Grace McQuade, children Karleen, Jay, Brian, Mary, Teresa, Ann and Ceil; grandchildren Chrissy, Jessica, Meredith, Matthew, Therese, Meghan, Juliet, Liam, Declan, Katie and Claire; and great grandchildren Zara, Maya, Harper, Hudson, Hunter, Bennett, Kiera and Maverick.
