Donald E. Pretz COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa - Donald E. Pretz, 71, of Columbus Junction, died Friday, September 26, 2008, at the Wapello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, October 2, 2008, at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Rev. Ramona Wink will officiate. Casket bearers will be Steve Pretz, Jay Graham, Kirk Wilson, Steve Bell, Wayne Shull and Don Shull. Honorary bearers will be Ray Boulton, Arnold Cutkomp, Doran Cutkomp, Sam Smith and Terry Pretz. Burial will be at Columbus City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Columbus City Cemetery Association and the Louisa County Fair Association in Don's name. Donald was born on October 18, 1936, in Columbus Junction, the son of John Raymond and Martha Elizabeth Pratt Pretz. He graduated from Columbus High School and worked as a farmer most of his life raising grain and cattle. He later worked as a security guard at IBP and then Tyson Foods. Family and friends will remember him as he was seen often driving the neighborhood gravel roads keeping a concerned and watchful eye on everything. He will be dearly missed by a son, Mike Pretz and wife, Dayle, of Columbus Junction; a daughter, Tamara Pretz and husband, Kevin Mitrisin, of New Delhi, India; four grandchildren, Megan Kelsey, and Tommy Pretz and Zoe Mitrisin; brothers, Robert Pretz and wife, Janet, Roger Pretz and Keith Pretz; a sister, Joan Pretz, all of Columbus Junction; nieces and nephews, Susan, Steve and Elizabeth Pretz and Joshua and Jennifer Pretz, all of Columbus Junction. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harry in childhood and Vaughn Pretz.
