Lenore B. Hetzler MONTICELLO, Iowa - Lenore Berniece Mumm Hetzler, 90, Monticello, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital. Her husband of 66 years, Harland Hetzler, was at her side. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday October 4, 2008, at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Monticello. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Monticello and to Camp Courageous of Iowa. The Cremation Society of Eastern, Central and Western Iowa is in charge of arrangements. Lenore was born in Scott County, Iowa, April 20, 1918. She attended school in Scott and Cedar Counties. She graduated valedictorian of her class, Durant High School, in 1938. In 1940, she graduated from Lutheran Bible Institute, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She married Harland Hetzler at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Durant, on May 23, 1942. She was a partner in farming operations and raising a family. In 1958 she moved to Monticello where she worked as office manager for HCH Insurance and real estate for 10 years. ears. She helped organize Meals On Wheels in Monticello, as well as local heart fund and cancer drives as long as she was able. She was an avid cook and gardener as well as family photographer and historian. Lenore gave so much of her heart to others that she had none left for herself. She was beloved by all who knew her, including her husband, Harland Hetzler; and four children, Joel and Virginia (McKean) Hetzler, Jane Chukas, Jeff Hetzler, and John and Marcia (Erickson) Hetzler. She is also survived by eight grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Lily Mumm; a brother, Norman Mumm; and an infant son, Dale; as well as many nieces and nephews.
