Dennis Newton MUSCATINE, Iowa - Dennis D. Newton, 64, of Muscatine, died Saturday, October 25, 2008, in Muscatine. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Jesus Mission Church. Casketbearers are Bob Todd, Troy Banor, Jayson Calhoun, Alan Singleton, Jeff Law and Trent McConnaha. Burial will be at the Island Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at Jesus Mission following the interment. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at the Jesus Mission Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dennis Newton memorial fund. Garden Ridge Funeral and Cremation Services, Muscatine, is in charge of the arrangements. Dennis was born on November 30, 1943, in Iowa City, the son of Betty Jane Newton Petty. He married Mary Dennis on March 6, 1966, at Glad Tidings Church in Muscatine. They later divorced. He had attended Muscatine Community College and was a member of the Jesus Mission Church. He was self-employed as a painter. He loved helping people and traveling with his son. He was very faithful to his religious convictions.
