Kenneth Sturms MUSCATINE, Iowa - Kenneth L. Sturms, 79, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2008, at his home, after a five year courageous battle with mylodysplastic syndrome. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Honorary bearers will be his grandchildren, and Marilyn Schumacher, Harry and Marilyn McKee and Larry and Linda Whitlock. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military rites by the combined units of the V.F.W. Post 1565 and the American Legion Post No. 27. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Kenneth, for a scholarship fund through the Muscatine High School. Kenneth was born on August 13, 1929, in Muscatine, the son of George and Ann Sturms. He married Marlene Riexinger September 7, 1952, in Buffalo Prairie. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Marlene Sturms of Muscatine; children, Teresa Salyer and husband, David, of Dubuque, and Tom Sturms and wife, Lisa, of Muscatine; six grandchildren, Ryan, Matt, Natalie and Elizabeth Sturms, and Zach and Caitlin Sturms-Salyer; a brother, Merle Sturms; and special friend, Marian Axel. He was preceded in death by his parents.
