JOEL DUNCAN MUSCATINE, Iowa - Joel Duncan, 63, of Muscatine, died Monday, January 5, 2009, at the Keokuk Area Hospital. Private family burial will be in Columbus City Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Muscatine Center for Strategic Action. Joel was born on July 25, 1945, in Washington, the son of Calvin and Nettie Heinold Duncan. He married Gloria Howard on June 5, 1970, in New Boston, Illinois. He was raised in Columbus Junction but spent his adult live in the Muscatine area. He had worked at HJ Heinz for 15 years. Enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and loved to walk along the Mississippi River. Survivors include two sons, Kevin Duncan and wife, Remy, of Muscatine, and Darrin Duncan and wife, Ginger, of Farmer City, Illinois; one daughter, Kim Zapata of Muscatine; eight grandchildren, Sanibel Duncan, Gwyndalyn Danner Duncan, Wyatt Danner Duncan, Ella Danner Duncan, and Derek, Carlos, Allie and Kristina Zapata.
