MARIAN SMITH MUSCATINE, Iowa - Marian H. Smith, 83, of Muscatine, died Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at Lutheran Homes. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2009, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Chaplain Vicki Pedersen of Lutheran Homes will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Kevin Phillips, Dave Hartman, Bill Smith, Jack Hurlbut, Raymond Wendt, Dave Anderson, Mike Allenbaugh, and Larry Wendt. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2009, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Homes or the Genesis Hospice Program. Marian was born on December 17, 1925, in Fruitland, the daughter of Jacob and Lena Loeb Wendt. She married Lester E. Smith on January 21, 1942, in Canton, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1969. She and her husband owned and operated Tri-County Supplies. She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose and was deeply involved in her children and grandchildren's lives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Marilyn Bentley in 2000, and two brothers, Raymond and Harold Wendt.
