riends Church and participated in service trips to Cuba with the Friends United Meeting. He served on the School Board for the West Branch Community Schools and was a past president. He was a Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack No. 156 and an assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop No. 212 in Iowa City. He enjoyed canoeing and camping and took several trips to the Boundary Waters with friends and the scouts. He kept the scout bus running, as his father had before him. He was known for his love of jazz music, motorcycling, flying his ultra-light plane, camping with his family and his ability to fix just about anything. Survivors include his wife, Donna Hemingway; his children, Jon, Emily, and Loren, all of rural Iowa City; a grandson, Felix Harwood Green of Iowa City; his father, Elmer Hemingway; four sisters, Sarah Ferneding of Omaha, Nebraska, Susan Artmann and husband, Allen of East Hanover, New Jersey, Jane Quaintance and husband, Bob of Byron, Minnesota and Martha Schwandt and husband, Andy of Marshalltown; two brothers, Mark Hemingway of Urbandale and Scott Hemingway of Seattle, Washington. He was preceded in death by his mother; grandparents, Emery and Etta Hemingway and Gustaf and Hattie Dahlgren.
