Ruby Ruth Epperly MUSCATINE, Iowa -Ruby Ruth Epperly, 98, of Muscatine, passed away Friday, March 27, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at the First Christian Church. Reverend Robert Pickerell will officiate the service. Honorary casketbearers will be Rod Koenig, Dennis Truesdale, Brian Epperly, Bryce Taylor, Clark Askam, Jake Shoultz, Keith Crook, Josh Askam and Derek Askam. Casketbearers will be Dennis Epperly, Glenn Epperly, David Askam, Brian Askam, Matt Shoultz, Paul Askam and Todd Taylor. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the First Christian Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2009, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to First Christian Church. Ruby Newcomb was born on January 16, 1911, in Kirkwood, Illinois, the daughter of Willis Knight and Axie Ann Terrill Newcomb. She married Myrton Epperly on February 7, 1934, in Toldeo, Ohio. and helped with the family business. She spent the winter months in Arizona with her sister, Hazel, for more than 34 years. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking, baking, sewing, playing bingo, going to the casino and gardening. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by her two sons, Glen Epperly and wife, Marilyn, of Muscatine, and Dennis Epperly and wife, Nelda, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Paul Askam, Laura Shoultz and husband, Matt, Brian Epperly, Ruby Ann Taylor and husband, Todd, David Askam and wife, Annette, Brian Askam, and Sandra Smith and husband, Mike; step-grandchildren Brenda Truesdale, Shelly Koenig, Ricky Ray and LeAnne Ray; 13 great-grandchildren; four nieces, Glenda, Shirley, Roberta and Karren; a sister, Hazel Baars of Grandview; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Charlotte Askam; five brothers and two sisters.
