Susan Price Oakes KALAMAZOO, Michigan - Susan P. Oakes, 55, Kalamazoo, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009, at Kairos Dwelling. Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at the Faith Chapel Ministries, 7736 W. G Ave., Kalamazoo. Reverend Jeanne Kucks will officiate. Memorials may be made to Kairos Dwelling in care of Joldersma amp; Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick, Kalamazoo, MI 49001. Susan was born on May 7, 1953, in Muscatine, the daughter of Ralph and Beverly Blythe Price. She was a former president and on the board of directors of My Own Home and Community Living Options, and an advisory committee member of Community Development ACT Grants. She graduated from Muscatine High School in 1971. She attended the University of Iowa. She had a vibrant and compassionate spirit. Survivors include two daughters, Jamie Oakes of Portage, Michigan, and Robyn Oakes of Kalamazoo, Michigan, their father, James L. Oakes of Kalamazoo, Michigan; her father, Ralph Price of Muscatine, Iowa; a brother, Michael Price and wife, Linda, of Muscatine, Iowa; and a niece, Heather Robinson and husband, Bill, of Ames, Iowa.
