Ralph Longcor MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa - Ralph Leo Longcor, 83, of the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshaltown, went home to his heavenly Father on Monday, April 13, 2009, with his family at his side. Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2009, Iowa Veterans Home Chapel, Marshaltown. Burial will be at the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at the Muscatine Baptist Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior funeral service, on Monday, April 20, 2009. Memorials may be directed to the family. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home, Marshalltown, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Longcor was born November 10, 1925, in Belfast, Iowa, the son of James Anthony and Helen E. Hand Longcor. He attended school in Burlington. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps for two years, and then the United States Army for 18 years. He retired from military service in 1967. He received several medals and citations. He married Ruby Rexene on October 9, 1974, at Oak Street Baptist Church, Burlington. Ralph worked at H.J. Heinz for 17 years, retiring in 1989. American Legion, and the Muscatine Baptist Chapel. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, hunting, and helping others. He was sweet, shy, gentle, and a good husband, father and faithful friend. He is survived by his wife, Rexene, of Muscatine; his two children, Jenny Longcor of Muscatine, and James Longcor of Morning Sun; three grandchildren, Bailey Longcor, Briyer Longcor, and BriAnn Longcor, all of Grandview; his very special cousin, Louana Luke of Georgia and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his four brothers, Oliver Bert Longcor, Marion Crow, Floyd Crow, and Billy Crow; two sisters, Rosa Stanley and Lorraine Weikert.
