HALLIE SCHENKEL MUSCATINE, Iowa - Hallie Schenkel, 98, of Muscatine, died Sunday, June 7, 2009, at Muscatine Care Center. Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2009, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 211 Walnut Street. The Reverend Cathi Bencken will officiate. Honorary bearers will be Chuck Anson, John Axel, Bill Duval, Kenneth Irwin, John Stevens, and Robert Zoller. Bearers will be Rollie Schenkel III, Greg Orr, David Phillips, Jim Sammons, and Robert Griesman. Private burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. A fellowship lunch will be held at the church following the memorial service. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church or the Clark House. The Ralph J. l Church on June 19, 1927. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, she was a 50 year plus member of the Women of the Moose and Pocahontas. She had received the Senior Citizen of the year award. She had lived at the Clark House for almost 27 years and lead the daily noon devotions. Hallie started working as an elevator operator in the Laurel building at the age of 15. She later worked for over 30 years at the Muscatine Pearl Works, retiring on August 2, 1980. She is survived by a great nephew. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert and Rolland Schenkel, and a sister, June Schenkel, in infancy.
