Robert L. Forbes LONE TREE, Iowa - Robert Lawrence Forbes, 60, Lone Tree, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospital surrounded by his family following a brief illness. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2009, at the Lone Tree American Legion. Russ Forbes will officiate. Burial will be at the Lone Tree Cemetery with military honors by the Lone Tree American Legion Post No. 457. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2009, at the Lone Tree American Legion. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Bob. The Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services of Lone Tree is handling the arrangements for the Forbes family. Robert Forbes was born October 9, 1948, in Iowa City, the son of Lawrence and Evelyn Curtis Forbes. He was a 1966 graduate of Lone Tree High School. He was currently working as the Water Treatment Plant Operator for the city of Iowa City and had previously worked for the city of Lone Tree for 12 years. He was a member of the Lone Tree Fire and Rescue since 1983, the Lone Tree American Legion Post No. 457 since 1972 and dearly loved to fish and bowl. . He will be deeply missed by his wife, Maria Forbes of Lone Tree; his children, Teri Hinrichs and husband, Bob, of Lone Tree, Joe Forbes of Chicago, Illinois, Jason Forbes of West Liberty, Tracy Forbes of West Liberty and Robbi Forbes of Knoxville; three grandchildren, Zachary, Erin and Andrea; and a brother, Mike Forbes of Columbus Junction. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry.
