Richard L. Jenkins was born on December 22, 1934, in Lakefield, Minnesota. He was the second son of Pearl and Emma (Jenkins) Jenkins. He received his education in Lakefield. On May 11, 1957, Richard was united in marriage to Nancy Hiebert at the Bingham Lake United Methodist Church. They resided in the Windom area for most of their lives. This union was blessed with three daughters, Jane, Barbara, and Kay. Throughout his life, Richard loved cars. He worked as a car salesman at Van Nest Motors and Steffen's Chevrolet then at his own business until his death. Richard was active in the Windom Jaycees. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Windom and found satisfaction in chairing the van committee that provided transportation for older church members. Richard enjoyed playing pool, cards, bowling, golf, camping and fishing. He loved competition, and always played to win. Anybody who won any kind of contest against Richard knew they truly earned the victory. The past few years he and Nancy escaped the Minnesota cold by wintering in Arizona. d was diagnosed with advanced kidney cancer and passed away peacefully on Sept. 2, 2008, at the age of 73 in Bayport, Minnesota. Richard's grateful family includes his wife of fifty-one years, Nancy Jenkins of Windom; three daughters, Jane Imperiale and husband, Chris, of St. Paul; Barbara Grell and husband, Perry, of Papillion, NE; Kay Cowell of Englewood, CO; grandchildren, Brett Grell and wife, Nicole of LaVista, NE; Tyler Grell of Pensacola, FL; and Kristina and Madeline Cowell of Englewood; one great-grandson, Connor Grell; two brothers, Dale Jenkins and wife, Brenda of Currie; Lester Jenkins and wife, Jan, of Currie; one sister, Mardella Jinkerson of Mankato; and many nieces and nephews. Richard is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Willard and Leonard Jenkins; and one sister, Elvina Klumper. Blessed be the memory of Richard L. Jenkins.
