Julia Mae Walterman MUSCATINE, Iowa - Julia Mae Walterman, 87, Wapello, died Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Graveside Service will be 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, near Douds. The family will conduct their service. Visitation will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello. A general memorial fund has been established. Julia was born on August 31, 1921, in Cedar Falls, the daughter of Carl and Matilda Nelson Hansen. She married Ned G. Walterman on November 27, 1945, in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1977. After their marriage, they made their home at New Hartford, and later moving to Clarksville, then Macon and Memphis, Missouri, and moving to Douds, where they lived for 16 years. After her husband passed away she later moved to Wapello in 1981. She was an active farm wife and a wonderful mother. She had also worked as a nurse's aide. g them go to good homes. She loved to take care of her own home, yard and flower garden taking great pride in her independence. After a short illness she found peace with her loving God. She is survived by her three daughters, Karla Runquist and husband, Richard, of Roseville, Illinois, Annabelle Weiser and husband, Michael, of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Prudence Downs of Wapello; two sons, Marquette Walterman of Fairfield and Jeffory Walterman of Farmington; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl F. Hansen of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Brian and an infant son, three brothers, and two sisters.
