Fred Kummerfeldt WILTON, Iowa - Fred Kummerfeldt, 91, Wilton, died on Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at Unity Health Systems Hospital in Muscatine. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Reverend Gaylor Nelson will officiate. Serving as casket bearers will be David Kummerfeldt, Sara Martindale, Jessica Evans, Chad Martindale, Stanley Curry and Jack Kummerfeldt, Allan Friederichs. Interment will be at the Durant Cemetery, Durant. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009, at the church with additional visitation one hour prior to service, church. The Bentley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or the Wilton First Responders in his memory. Fred was born on April 5, 1918, the son of Johannes and Emilie Heick Kummerfeldt in Scott County. He married Hilda O. Soenke on January 28, 1945, in Davenport. He served as a Fulton Township Trustee, worked for the ASCS office, Muscatine, and served on the Stockton Elevator Board of Directors. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Alaska and Minnesota, camping, fishing and was an avid reader. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Hilda Kummerfeldt of Wilton, his daughters, Patricia Raper and husband, Terry, of Henderson, Nevada, and Janet Kelso and husband, John, of Emblem, Wyoming; his son, John Kummerfeldt and wife, Karen, of Durant; and three grandchildren, Sara Martindale, David Kummerfeldt and Jessica Evans. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Helen Kummerfeldt and Martha Friederichs; and his brothers, Max, Paul, Otto, William, Harry and Herbert Kummerfeldt.
