JOSE VASQUEZ GOMEZ MUSCATINE, Iowa - Jose Vasquez Gomez, 96, of Muscatine, died Saturday, October 10, 2009, at Lutheran Homes. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Ruben Jara will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Israel Ray Vasquez, Israel Vasquez Jr., Javier Gonzales, Alex Vasquez Jr., Tommy Gonzales, Cesar Cabrera, Domingo Vasquez Jr., and Jovani Rubio. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at the funeral home. Jose was born on January 10, 1913, in Cruillas Tamaulipas, Mexico, the son of Espirillos and Maria De Los Angeles Gomez Vazquez. He was united in marriage to Maria L. Gomez on October 16, 1946, in Brownsville, Texas. He worked at Louis Rich until his retirement. He loved watching his sons play baseball, enjoyed gardening, dancing, and liked sewing. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, three sisters, and one nephew Guadalupe Vasquez.
