en, Diane, Richard D. Hugill Jr., and Marilyn 'Lindy'. Barbara Hugill preceded him in death on November 9, 1957, and Diane on September 25, 1979. He served from 1942-45, in the U.S. Army in France, Belgium and Germany, attaining the rank of Captain in the field artillery. After leaving the Army, he worked as an Internal Revenue Service Agent for the U.S. Treasury in Cedar Rapids for five years before moving to Muscatine in 1951, to join the Grain Processing Corporation as an accountant. He was appointed assistant controller of GPC in 1952, and controller in 1962, a position he held for more than 20 years until his retirement in 1983. Richard Hugill married Betty Ruth Kiser on November 11, 1960, in Muscatine and they became the parents of one daughter, Mary Ann. Betty Hugill preceded him in death on June 11, 2008. Richard and Betty wintered in Arizona for more than 25 years and they took fishing trips to Canada each summer. They also enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River and RV camping throughout the western United States. He was an avid rock collector and had a large collection of geodes and semi-precious stones, and he also fabricated silver jewelry for family members and friends. He was a life member of the Muscatine Elks Club and a longtime member of the Geneva Country Club and served on the Muscatine Civil Defense Team. He will be deeply missed by two daughters, Marilyn (Lindy) Wilson and husband, Duane, and Mary Ann Trueg and husband, Doug, all of Muscatine; a son, Rick Hugill and wife, Barb Bailey, of Iowa City; a former son-in-law, Del Marks and wife, Nancy, of Ames; seven grandchildren, Daniel Marks and wife, Teresa, of Ames, Mary Sell and husband, Michael, of Cedar Falls, Sunny Wilson and fianc�'©, Cary Hubner, of Geneseo, Illinois, Brian Wilson of Chicago, Illinois, Clara Bailey-Hugill of West Branch, Silas Hugill of West Branch, and Haley Trueg of Muscatine; six great-grandchildren, Bryant, Reid, Jacob and Julia Marks, of Ames; and Sophia, Diana, and Maxwell Sell, of Cedar Falls; and two brothers-in-law, Myron Kiser, Wilton, Richard Kiser and wife, Phyllis, McMurray, Pennsylvania .
