Ralph L. McChesney DAVENPORT, Iowa - Ralph L. McChesney, 90, Davenport, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at Genesis West Medical Center. Funeral Service will be 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010, at The Runge Mortuary. Burial will take place in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2010, at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Ralph was born on February 25, 1920, in Wapello, the son of Henry Lee and Florence Mallory McChesney. He married M. Joanne Ferguson on April 1, 1951, in Wapello. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Wapello American Legion. He worked for Nichols Homeshield for more than 30 years prior to his retirement. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Joanne McChesney of Davenport; two sons, Bruce McChesney and wife, Catherine, of Muscatine, and Ralph McChesney and wife, Chris, of Tipton; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenny McChesney and wife, Betty, of Wapello. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond, Harold, Rex, George and Carl and sisters, Helen Ryner and Mildred Milligan. [more]
